Second Floor Conference Rm. City Hall Attendance: <br> *Greg Kalivas *Jeanne Pappalardo *Dave Aufiero *Brian Duffy *Dave Marsh *Pat & Pat Villani *Gerry McCall *Kevin & Mrs. Flatley *Fred & Lisa Wagner *Joyce Campagnone (new Member) *Brian Lagrasse, Health Dept. *Joe Giarrusso, Conservation Chris DiBella was not in attendance and Jennifer Kannan was not able to make the meeting due to a medical issue. Meeting was called to order at approximately 6:40 p.m.<br> Minutes of previous meeting of March 31, 2010 voted and accepted.<br> Treasurer's report given and voted and accepted.<br> Checking accou. balance is $244.57 and savings CCOUNT balance is $2619.81 <BR> Robert LeBlanc paid dues and re-joined the Association. <br> Joyce Campagnone is a new member,attended for the first time and paid her dues that evening. Purpose of this meeting was to discuss the rejection of the grant and to see where & how the Association wanted to proceed in regards to another grant for this fall. Gerry McCall commented that he spoke to Gary Ganyeaux from DEP in the Boston office in regards to the grant and was informed 23 communities participated in this grant and Methuen came out #21. Six of the communities received $75,00.00 each out of a total of $269,000.00 grant. Mr. McCall asked if he could look over the applications and was told he had to go to Boston to do this. Gerry wanted them transferred to the No.East regional office but was told they would not do this. Joe Giarrussso was asked to call Linda Dean Campbell to see if she could intercede to have them transferred.<br> Mr. McCall also asked if these communities had professional consultants writing their grants and was told they did.<br> Dave Aufiero spoke about the next grant for fall and we need to hire a company to do this for us. The Mayor was in agreement to give us some money to secure the grant this time around.<br> Gerry McCall brought up that maybe the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission would be able to help us with this. There is an online survey for residents to fill out and voice their concerns of the issues on the lake. <br> It can be found on the [http://www.ci.methuen.ma.us/index.php/forest-lake-information-othermenu-432.html City website]. <br>It is listed as [http://www.ci.methuen.ma.us/Documents/CONSERVATION/LAKESURVEY824102.pdf Forest Lake Aquatic Vegetation Survey].<br> Eight individuals have submitted reports in regards to the issues on weeds and testing. Mr. McCall also commented that The Lawrence Experimental station could help out with the testing.<br> Brian Duffy voiced his concerns for the weeds in the lake being so bad that his kids couldn't even swim.<br> Greg Kalivas also voice the same concern and the weeds need to be addressed.<br> Dave Aufiero and Brian Duffy feel they want a short term solution to this issue.<br> Mr. Flatley and D. Aufiero feel that the association should invite a company to come and give a presentation to the association. Greg Kalivas is going to contact a company to come and speak to the members. The issue of testing came up and the results are not online in a timely fashion(maybe due to the IT person on vacation time} will continue to test.<br> A request was made of Joe Giarrusso to postpone the draw down of the lake until the 2nd week in October and Joe agreed to do this, everyone was in favor of this.<br> Under New Business:<br> Due to a request from Jack Burke the members voted to put on the next agenda nominations for new officers of the association.<br> Motion was made and seconded all voted in favor to do this for the next meeting. <br>Anyone interested in being an officer should attend the next meeting which is tentatively scheduled for October 13,2010 at the Sweetheart Inn, if the room is available. Everyone will be e-mailed when we receive an answer from Mike Condon on the availability.
